Job Description:

• Despite the responsibilities of a Power Cable Technician, the candidate may operate on plastic-insulated cables and accessories up to and including 20/35 kV.
• On line trucks, the candidate must operate pole setting equipment, hole digging attachments, and associated equipment.
• When the lines are not directly under the control of an Area Control Station or a generating station, the candidate may be designated by BC Hydro through local operating orders as the Person In Charge (P.I.C.) for the operation of distribution lines or circuits operating at 35 kV and below. The designation will be identified and documented.
• The candidate will be in charge of performing the Person In Charge (P.I.C.) responsibilities, which include giving directives for safety guarantees on circuits and distribution lines for nearby workers.
