Requirements for Manager Jobs in Canada:

• The candidate must possess a degree in civil or transportation engineering, as well as a proven understanding of transportation planning, civil or transportation engineering theories and methods, or an equivalent combination of education and pertinent work experience.
• A university degree in engineering is required, tho it is encouraged for this role.
• It is preferred that the candidate be registered as a Professional Engineer in the Province of Ontario. A qualification as a Project Management Professional (PMP) is seen as advantageous.

• The candidate must be familiar with the Municipal Environmental Assessment Act, the Transit Project Assessment Process (TPAP), and other municipal, provincial, and federal laws, rules, and regulations about road-related projects.
• The applicant must be familiar with the municipality’s construction project permitting and approval procedures.
• The applicant must have demonstrated management experience from increasingly responsible roles, ideally in a municipal setting.
• In addition to project planning, scheduling, prioritizing, monitoring, and costing tasks, the candidate must have experience creating capital budgets.
• The applicant needs to have prior expertise creating and overseeing operating budgets.
• The applicant must have substantial expertise writing technical reports and papers; prior experience writing reports for the Council is advantageous.
• To manage big contracts and projects, including analyzing, approving, and carrying out work plans and project budgets, the candidate must possess a thorough understanding of engineering theories, practices, and trends.
• The applicant must possess a highly developed capacity for inspiring, leading, and articulating a clear vision.
• Highly effective leadership, facilitation, communication, presentation, interpersonal, and organizational abilities are required of the applicant.
